Corruption is a disease that undermines a country’s economic foundation, disrupts social justice, and erodes the trust between the public and the government. The Corruption Crimes Work process of the Wolaita Zone Justice Department is working with a high sense of responsibility to legally prevent and control this devastating practice.
Our Objectives and Mission
The primary focus of the Corruption Crimes Work Process is to recover government and public resources embezzled within our Zone, bring those involved in corruption to justice, and establish procedures that close the doors to corrupt opportunities. As we ensure the rule of law, it is our moral and professional obligation to ensure that every cent allocated for development is used solely for its intended purpose.
As the methods of committing corruption crimes become more sophisticated in this digital age, we are modernizing our operations accordingly. In this regard:
• We work in coordination with stakeholders to competently investigate complex corruption crimes.
• Special attention is given to ensuring that government and public resources, property, and funds embezzled through corruption are returned to the government treasury.
• Guided by the principle that “prevention is better than cure,” we work to ensure that government employees, leaders, and the general public have sufficient awareness of the severity of corruption and legal accountability.
The Power of Digital Transparency
This newly launched website creates a new capacity for our struggle against corruption. It serves as a platform where the public can provide corruption tips and whistleblow reports without fear, access information about criminal investigation processes, and where transparency can prevail. Organizing information digitally plays a vital role in the speed and accuracy of our investigative work.
A Shared Responsibility
Preventing corruption is not the job of the department or the prosecutor alone. Saying “No” to corruption, providing timely tips on observed malpractice, and standing for justice is the duty of every citizen. We seek the active participation of everyone in our efforts to build a justice system in our Zone where transparency prevails, where there is no room for theft, and where the rights of citizens are respected.
