Women and children are the source of our society’s strength and the hope of our future. Consequently, protecting the safety of these segments of society, respecting and enforcing their human rights, and ensuring they are free from any form of violence is the primary and non-negotiable mission of the Wolaita Zone Justice Department.
Our Commitment to Protection
The Women and Children’s Criminal Cases Work Process works with absolute commitment to prevent physical, psychological, and sexual violence committed against these vulnerable groups. We track these crimes with special attention to ensure perpetrators receive the appropriate legal punishment.
Specifically:
- • Investigation and Prosecution: We conduct fast and high-quality investigations into acts of violence against women and children, human trafficking, and other related crimes to bring them to justice.
- Awareness and Advocacy: We collaborate with structures at all levels to enhance community awareness regarding women’s rights and child safety, aiming to abolish harmful traditional practices and inform citizens of their legal rights.
- Victim Support: We strive to ensure that women and children who have suffered abuse receive proper protection, support, and counseling throughout the legal process to prevent further psychological trauma.
Digital Empowerment for Justice
The new “wolaitajustice.gov.et” website creates a significant capacity to courageously prevent violence against women and children. This platform:
- Facilitates a way for citizens to quickly report tips when violence is committed or when warning signs appear.
- Helps the public easily access national and international laws that protect the rights of women and children.
- Assists in increasing the transparency of the justice process while strictly safeguarding the identity and dignity of victims.
A Call to the Community
Hiding abuse opens the door for further violence to occur. Therefore, I call upon parents, teachers, religious leaders, and the entire community within our Zone to play your part in preventing crimes committed against women and children. We stand ready to fulfill the trust placed in us with integrity and fairness.
